Minor Characters

As far as the minor characters in a Gracious Plenty goes, I feel that Reba is the most intriguing to me. Just the way that her character is portrayed really makes me wonder about her past and why she is the way she is. Although she is depicted as a hardcore Christian it seems to me that she is far from it. Of course was makes me think this is her treatment of William Blot's land and how she speaks of him. Although Christians do not like homosexuals, a devote Christian would never tell kids to deface the property of the dead. Then at the very end of the book she starts to scrub off all of the graffiti off of Blot's grave, although I think thats only because there was going to be a funeral there and she did not want others to see what she did. I either think she's just an extremest or that she is just a complex character, but either-way I think she is the most interesting minor character nonetheless.

Taking Stock of your Work

This paper was not nearly one of my better works as I could not really come up with an idea to write about that I wanted to. But after I finished the draft and looked it over I think that I told the story of it pretty well. I think I used the quote that I had found really well and worded my introduction well too. But I think that I could have worded the body paragraphs a little bit better and possibly look more into how to use colons and semicolons. I came up with the idea for my essay because it directly had to do with me and how something affected me. I wrote my draft like I write any other paper: typing on my laptop because writing out an essay by hand never really works for me as well. After people corrected my draft paper I seen how much I really had to go over it and make it better. I really looked at what they corrected, figured that would help out that quiz grade. Next time I hope that I can really write about something that I want to write about and not have writers block about the topic.

Dash

In my dash I would have to say that my immediate family and friends are the most important things. I don't place one higher then the other as they are different types of appreciation. Family is blood, they have and will always be there for you and that is very important to me. However friends are just as important as its the people that are close to you (I also have no brothers or sisters, so friends are like family) and its another whole different type of relationship.

My dash I feel has just began to start as I am now on my own to make my own decisions. Before college there was not much choice of what to do as every night I would end up under my parents roof, so I feel that my dash has just started.

When I first heard the professor talk about the book I was thinking that it probably not be that good, but reading it so far its not that bad. The whole talking to the dead thing is strangely normal after reading for a bit, I can just see the whole scarring thing making the story to mushy later on. Guess ill find out eh?
